Before you begin, gather these essential materials:
- 1 piece of Gray Shimmering Ribbon, 1.5 inches wide, 8.5 inches long
- 1 piece of Black Ribbon, 0.3 inches wide, 6.5 inches long
- 1 Black Hair Tie
- 1 White Non-woven Fabric Round Piece
- 1 Faux Rhinestone Embellishment
- 1 Hot Glue Gun with hot glue sticks
- 1 Sewing Needle with matching thread
- 1 Omega-type Buckle (for hair ties)
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Follow these instructions carefully to create your stunning ribbon flower ponytail holder:
Step 1: Prepare the Shimmering Ribbon Base Take your 1.5-inch wide, 8.5-inch long gray shimmering ribbon. Using your needle and thread, start at one end and make a running stitch along one long edge of the ribbon (as shown on the right side in the video). Ensure each stitch is approximately 1 cm (0.4 inches) apart. Continue stitching along the entire length of this edge.
Step 2: Gather and Connect the Ribbon Once you've stitched the entire length of the ribbon, gently pull the thread to gather the ribbon, making the stitches denser. Then, bring the two ends of the stitched ribbon together and sew them securely to form a continuous loop. Snip the thread and secure it.
Step 3: Shape the Ribbon Flower Carefully use your hands to arrange the gathered ribbon. The tightly stitched side will form the dense, central part of your "flower," while the unstitched, flowing side will naturally fan out, creating the "petals" of your shimmering ribbon flower. Adjust until it looks pleasingly voluminous.
Step 4: Attach Flower to Non-woven Base Take your white non-woven fabric round piece. Apply a generous amount of hot glue to one side of the non-woven circle. Carefully press the tightly gathered bottom (the "flower core" side) of your shimmering ribbon flower onto the glued side of the non-woven circle. Hold firmly until the glue sets, securing the flower's base.
Step 5: Create the Black Ribbon Bow Knot Take your 0.3-inch wide, 6.5-inch long black ribbon. Hold it approximately 1/3 of the way in from each end. Cross the ribbon diagonally downwards, forming an approximate 100-degree angle at the intersection, creating a simple bow-like knot.
Now, apply hot glue between the three overlapping layers of the black ribbon knot where they intersect. Press firmly to secure the knot's shape.
Step 6: Attach the Bow Knot to the Flower Apply a small amount of hot glue to the bottom center of the black ribbon knot you just created. Carefully place and press the glued side of the black ribbon knot onto the center of your shimmering ribbon flower. Hold it in place until the glue dries.
Step 7: Add the Faux Rhinestone Embellishment Take your faux rhinestone embellishment. Apply a small dot of hot glue to its bottom surface. Carefully place and press the rhinestone onto the exact center of the black ribbon knot. This will add a touch of sparkle and sophistication.
Step 8: Prepare the Omega-type Buckle Take your Omega-type buckle. Apply hot glue into the groove or concave part of the buckle. Carefully place the metal connection part of your black hair tie into this glued groove. Press firmly until it is securely attached.
Step 9: Assemble the Hair Tie Finally, apply hot glue to the top flat surface of the Omega-type buckle (the side opposite the hair tie). Carefully position and press the entire shimmering ribbon flower assembly (with the non-woven backing) onto the glued surface of the buckle. Hold firmly until the glue completely sets.
