Materials You'll Need:
1.5-inch wide, 7.5-inch long plain red fabric ribbon (1 piece)
1.5-inch wide, 7.5-inch long patterned red fabric ribbon (1 piece)
Rubber band with black thread wrap and metal connector (1 piece)
0.3-inch wide, 2.5-inch long small red fabric ribbon (1 piece)
Faux pearl plastic bead with a loop (1 piece)
Omega-shaped plastic buckle (1 piece)
Hot glue gun (pre-heated) and glue sticks
Elastic cotton thread (1 roll)
Scissors
Pliers
Double-sided tape
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
1.Prepare the Ribbons: Take both the plain red and patterned red fabric ribbons. Apply double-sided tape to both ends of each ribbon on the non-patterned side. Fold each ribbon in half to find its center line, then fold both taped ends inwards towards the center line and firmly press to secure.
2.Form the Single Bows: For each ribbon (plain red and patterned red), use your fingers to pinch three parallel pleats along the ribbon's direction in the middle section. Tightly bind this pleated section with elastic cotton thread, wrapping about 15 times. Tie a secure knot and snip off the excess thread. You should now have two distinct single bows.
3.Join the Main Bows: Take the patterned red bow. Apply hot glue to the bottom side of the elastic-wrapped center. Position it at a 30-degree angle on top of the plain red bow's center and press firmly to adhere.
4.Reinforce the Center: Take the small 0.3-inch wide red fabric ribbon. Wrap it snugly around the combined center of the two bows, covering the elastic thread. Apply hot glue to both ends of the small ribbon and secure them neatly to the back (bottom) of the bows, providing extra reinforcement and a clean finish.
5.Attach the Pearl Accent: Use pliers to carefully twist off or break the loop from the bottom of the faux pearl plastic bead, creating a flat surface. Apply hot glue to this flattened base and firmly attach the pearl to the top of the small red ribbon that wraps around the bow's center.
6.Prepare the Hair Tie Base: Apply hot glue into the groove of the omega-shaped plastic buckle. Insert the metal connection part of the rubber band into this groove and hold until it's securely fixed.
7.Final Assembly: Apply hot glue to the top of the metal part of the rubber band (now attached to the omega buckle) and also to the flat top surface of the omega buckle itself. Carefully position this entire assembly onto the bottom/back of your finished bow, ensuring it's centered and aligned. Press firmly with your hand to secure the attachment.
And just like that, your simple yet elegant dual-tone bow ponytail holder is complete! Enjoy your beautiful new handmade accessory.
