Grace Collection #1: Stylish Chiffon Flower Hair Tie Tutorial
Share
Welcome, fellow crafters! We're thrilled to introduce the Grace Collection, our exclusive series of elegant handmade hair accessories. In this first tutorial, Grace Collection #1, we'll guide you through making a beautiful chiffon ribbon flower hair tie, perfect for adding a charming flair to your ponytail. This handmade accessory is surprisingly easy to create and makes a wonderful gift or a chic addition to your own collection. Let's get started!
Materials You'll Need:
- Chiffon Ribbon: 5 pieces, each 3 inches long (approx. 7.5 cm) and 1 inch wide (approx. 2.5 cm).
- Rubber Hair Elastic/Hair Band: 1 piece (a standard black hair elastic works well).
- Imitation Pearl Bead: 1 piece (for the center of the flower).
- Sewing Needle: 1 piece.
- Sewing Thread: Approximately 20 inches (about 50 cm) long.
- Omega-shaped Clip/Base: 1 piece (used as a flat base to reinforce the hair elastic and attach the chiffon flower).
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks: 1 set.
- Non-woven Fabric Circle: 1 piece (for attaching and securing the chiffon flower).
- Scissors: For cutting the ribbon.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Preparing Your Chiffon Petals
Take a sewing needle and a piece of thread. Hold a rectangular piece of chiffon ribbon vertically, approximately 3 inches long. Fold the top-left corner downwards, aligning the fold with the right edge of the chiffon ribbon to form a right-angled triangle. Next, fold the excess long strip of chiffon ribbon inwards (towards the bottom-left) along a dashed line extending from the midpoint of the original diagonal edge to the midpoint of the right vertical edge. This forms a pointed top, overlapping the upper and lower sections to create an "arrow" shape. Use the needle and thread to stitch the bottom of the arrow, forming a petal. Repeat this process for all 5 pieces of chiffon ribbon to create five individual petals. Stitch them tightly and then cut the remaining thread.
Step 2: Shaping and Securing the Chiffon Flower
Gently arrange the "arrow" shapes of the five ribbons by hand to form a full chiffon flower shape. Take the non-woven fabric circle. Apply a circle of hot glue with your hot glue gun onto the non-woven fabric circle. Carefully press the prepared chiffon flower onto it, ensuring it's firmly attached.
Step 3: Adding the Pearl Center to the Flower
Now, it's time to add that elegant touch! Apply a small dot of hot glue to the very center of your chiffon flower. Carefully place the imitation pearl bead onto the glue, pressing it gently until it's firmly secured.
Step 4: Assembling the Hair Elastic Base
Take your rubber hair elastic and the Omega-shaped clip. Use the hot glue gun to adhere the rubber hair elastic into the groove of the Omega-shaped clip, ensuring a secure bond.
Step 5: Final Hair Tie Assembly
Last but not least! Apply glue to the side of the non-woven fabric circle (the side not attached to the chiffon flower) and attach it to the top flat surface of the Omega-shaped clip. Gently press and hold until the hot glue cools and sets.
Congratulations! Your Beautiful Handmade Chiffon Flower Ponytail Holder is Ready!
This elegant handmade hair accessory is perfect for all women who wear ponytails, whether they are lively and cute teenagers or sophisticated adult women. The creation of the chiffon flower is not overly complex, making it suitable for hair accessory enthusiasts with some crafting ability. This chiffon flower design can also be adapted for other types of hair accessories, such as creative hair clips.
